Lovech: the fortress and the Roman road

Lovech is a small town in the Northern-Central part of Bulgaria. Less than three hours away on a bus from the capital. There is also a railway station, but only a few trains stop at it.

Main attractions are the medieval fortress Hisarya and the remains of the ancient Roman road that will lead you from the fortress to the beautiful park Stratesh on the hilltop above the city. Another city hill, Akbair Hill, is worth climbing as well.
