Belogradchik rocks and Kaleto fortress

Belogradchik is a little town in the heart of the Bulgarian North-West. It’s main attraction and the reason for existence since the late antiquity is the large fortress, Kaleto, guarding mountain passes for almost two millennia under Romans, Vidin’s despot, and Turks.

The town sits on the edge of one of the most beautiful places in Bulgaria and Europe. Belogradchik rocks is entire valley dotted with numerous rocks peculiarly eroded into pillars of different shapes and forms. The eco-trail circling the valley is one of the most rewarding hiking experiences in the country.
